The Center for Urban Health and Education Research lab team works on projects addressing health disparities, health education, and health care systems in cities.

The Digital Media and Psychology LabÂ鶹´«Ã½™s research investigates the intersection between psychology and new technologies of the 21st century, including cell phones, social media, text messaging and other online profiles and virtual realities.

The Heart, Mind, Spirit, and The Globe Research Institute emphasizes the mind-body-spirit and culture connection and the impact of stress on the mental, physical, and spiritual health of individuals; communities studied in the lab encompass ethnic groups including Indian, Chinese, and Latinas as they acculturate to the United States.

Multicultural and Gender Perspectives in PsychologyÂ鶹´«Ã½™s research activities include the review of literature on gender and increasing the participantsÂ鶹´«Ã½™ awareness of the impact of gender on the psychosocial experience of men and women, the psychosocial experience of gays, lesbians, and bisexuals and the impact of racism, anti-Semitism, sexism, classism, homophobia, stereotyping and discrimination on the psychological development and functioning of people.

The Pace Institute for Creativity investigates the role of creativity in peopleÂ鶹´«Ã½™s lives and explores factors that contribute to achieving creative potential in different domains, including school, workplace, and daily problem-solving.

Current Parent-Child Institute research activities include an examination of how parents differ in their views of the parent role characteristics of bonding, discipline, education, general welfare and protection, responsivity, and sensitivity (as well as negativity) in child rearing in comparison to mental health professionals.

The Risk and Resilience Research Lab focuses on identifying the risk factors that increase individualsÂ鶹´«Ã½™ vulnerability to adversity, as well as the protective factors that promote positive psychological, educational, and health outcomes among vulnerable populations.

At the Science of Development Lab, we ask questions about how children and families learn and develop. We study different areas of development, including language, mathematics, and executive functioning.

The Social Justice and Health Equity Psychology LabÂ鶹´«Ã½™s research examines prejudice, discrimination, and stereotyping, including the social, academic, and health consequences of being a member of a stigmatized group.
