About Pace Travel Courses (Faculty-Led Programs)
What is a Pace Travel Course?
Pace Travel Courses are short, credit-bearing study abroad programs that are taught by Pace professors. They are linked to a semester course, with a 1-3 week overseas program during January, spring, or summer. Instead of on-campus weekly class meetings, you'll spend days abroad gaining hands-on experience with your Pace professors and classmates. (If you enroll in a Fall Travel Course, you麻豆传媒檒l travel in January; if you enroll in a Spring Travel Course, you麻豆传媒檒l travel during Spring Break or summer.) They offer an extraordinary opportunity for real-world experiences abroad with Pace faculty and classmates! Learn more about the basics of Pace Travel Courses in this or attend a weekly "Pace Travel Course" virtual info session.
What are the advantages of a Travel Course?
There are so many benefits to participating in study abroad! You麻豆传媒檒l earn credit towards your degree while having a unique experience in a foreign culture. Combining strong academics and real-world experiences, study abroad helps make students more market-ready upon graduation. Participating in a Travel Course takes your learning outside the classroom with a Pace professor, and you麻豆传媒檒l travel together with Pace classmates. Financially, the shorter program is a more affordable study abroad option; there麻豆传媒檚 no additional tuition costs and there are scholarships available. Travel Courses are also a good option for those considering a longer study abroad experience, but you want to see if you麻豆传媒檒l like it first. A Travel Course can enrich your cross-cultural communications skills, intercultural awareness, and social life at Pace (by meeting new Pace classmates). You麻豆传媒檒l develop a deeper global outlook and gain new insights, experiences, and friends.
How do I participate on a Pace Travel Course?
Follow these steps to study abroad on a Pace Travel Course: Steps to Study Abroad (PDF) Unlike other Pace courses (where you register yourself via the Pace Portal), Education Abroad will register you in the respective Travel Course on your behalf after you have completed an application and paid a deposit in .

Costs Associated with Pace Travel Courses
Pace Travel Courses are study abroad programs that are linked to a credit-bearing semester course, which means full-time Pace undergraduates pay no additional tuition charge for the overseas program as long as they have not exceeded the 18-credit limit for the semester. Graduate students who are billed on a per-credit basis will pay the tuition rate assessed by Student Accounts. In addition to Pace tuition, students pay (1) a Program Fee for the overseas component, and (2) a $100 Study Abroad Fee.
Simply, students pay a Program Fee + $100 Study Abroad Fee (plus Pace tuition).
Out-of-pocket expenses (airfare, visas, some meals, etc.) are not included and are the responsibility of the student. Review the specific program麻豆传媒檚 Budget Sheet for an estimate of total costs under the Costs/Scholarships tab of the program麻豆传媒檚 page on the .
When and who do I pay?
A $500 non-refundable deposit* 麻豆传媒 payable by credit card to Pace Education Abroad via the student's application in the 麻豆传媒 is required to secure participation on a Pace Travel Course and be registered in the course by Education Abroad. The Program Fee and the $100 Study Abroad Fee are billed to the student's Pace account, coinciding with your semester payment upon course registration. The $500 deposit will appear as a credit towards the Program Fee on the Student Account. Students are subject to .
*If Pace cancels the overseas component of a Travel Course due to under-enrollment, the $500 deposit, $100 Study Abroad fee, and any of the remaining Program Fee that has been paid will be returned to the students麻豆传媒 Pace accounts. If there are outstanding fees on the student麻豆传媒檚 account, the funds returned may automatically be applied to pay the balance due.

Budget Sheets
You can review an estimated Budget Sheet for your Pace Travel Course under the Costs/Scholarships tab of the program page on the . Out-of-pocket expenses (airfare, visas, some meals, etc.) are not included in the Program Fee and are the responsibility of the student. The costs outlined are an approximation, which varies depending on personal spending habits and individual needs.
Scholarships
There are scholarships for study abroad, and some apply to Pace Travel Courses. Read our Scholarships page for more information about scholarships offered by Lubin (international field studies = Pace Travel Course), Dyson, and more. Plan for study abroad early, since scholarship application deadlines are early and the process takes time.
Financial Aid
Because Pace Travel Courses are Pace courses, a student's financial aid package will apply to semester tuition (which is why each course is associated with a semester--Fall with January travel; Spring with Spring Break or Summer travel). Financial aid is not used to cover the travel Program Fee for the overseas component.
- If additional assistance with financing the costs associated with the Pace Travel Course is needed, families may apply for a Federal Parent PLUS loan; students may apply for an Alternative Bank loan. In order to be considered for further loans because of increased study abroad expenses, download the Pace Travel Course's Budget Sheet, found on the "Costs" tab of the , and email it to financialaid@pace.edu. Federal loan limitations apply.
Tuition Billing
Undergraduate students should be mindful when planning their semester courses that taking more than 18 credits will incur additional tuition fees. Graduate students who are billed on a per-credit basis will pay the tuition rate assessed by Student Accounts.

Pace Travel Course in Italy
When I started at Pace I didn麻豆传媒檛 think studying abroad was in the cards for me, and now I can't imagine my Pace experience without it. I participated on a travel course entitled 麻豆传媒淩ome: the Eternal City麻豆传媒 with Dr. Hundersmarck, and Rome absolutely stole my heart. Studying abroad has made me more confident, more independent, and a little bit adventurous which is saying a lot for me because I tend to be on the cautious side. But you spend time on your own, you talk to new people, you try new things. It's exciting, and if you do it you麻豆传媒檒l feel like you can take on anything. It taught me that I was more capable than I was giving myself credit for, and I also found something I really enjoy 麻豆传媒 learning about different cultures, and trying new things (but most of all gelato). I highly recommend that you add studying abroad to your Pace Path because who knows what it will do for you.

Pace Travel Course in Costa Rica
One of the best decisions I made at Pace was studying abroad in Costa Rica. Not a day goes by where I do not think about my time there, and we were only there for a week! The homestay family becomes your family and the experiences you have are incredible. You麻豆传媒檒l visit hospitals and clinics, and that gets you thinking about our healthcare systems in the United States. Monteverde had the nicest people you will ever meet; they welcomed us with open arms. Costa Rica is the most beautiful country in the world, not only from its landmarks but the friends you麻豆传媒檒l meet along the way. It麻豆传媒檚 a short-term program so you don麻豆传媒檛 feel like you麻豆传媒檙e away from home too long, which I really liked. I highly recommend anyone considering studying abroad to do this program.
