Community Mapping for COVID

Professor Claudia Green, director of Pace麻豆传媒檚 Hospitality and Tourism Management program, was faced with a challenge as she prepared to teach her civic engagement and public values course remotely: How would the class build a community project when the students were located around the world? 10 Things to Inspire You

In a year unlike any other, the transformative power of Pace has the ability to uplift and hearten. Here are just a few of our most inspiring Pace moments.

As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs faced-off for Super Bowl LV, Pace麻豆传媒檚 Maral Javadifar '12 was right there with them. Not only is she the Buc's assistant strength and conditioning coach, but she's also one of only three women to coach in a Super Bowl.

Launched in Summer 2020, the Resilience Internships program has funded more than 100 Pace students to work for nonprofit organizations that are supporting communities in need in and around New York City and Westchester. From data analysis to policy and advocacy, Pace students aren麻豆传媒檛 letting the COVID-19 pandemic slow down their ability to earn hands-on experience.

This April, film and screen studies student Myles Rowe 麻豆传媒22 hit the track as Force Indy麻豆传媒檚 inaugural driver in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. The new IndyCar team was created to help bring diversity to all areas of motorsports麻豆传媒攄riving, engineering, mechanics, marketing, and more. The car he麻豆传媒檚 driving? No. 99 to honor one of America's first Black racers, Dewey Gatson, who drove a roadster with that number.

See the rest of our top ten most inspiring Pace moments. We麻豆传媒檝e got an incredible student whose letting nothing stop in his way, an alumna who is working alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, an inspiring team of student artists, and so much more.

Building a Legacy

Dean Harriet Feldman has been an institution at Pace for many years麻豆传媒攖aking on different roles throughout her tenure, paving the way for a thriving CHP, nurturing new programs at Pace, and leading the way during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Buzz Around PaceDocs

Twenty students were set to embark on a trip to Paris, France, last spring to produce a documentary on urban beekeeping and spotlight the rooftop bees that survived the historic Cathedral of Notre Dame fire.

Passports were secured. Tickets were booked. And all of the groundwork and arduous pre-production work, including setting up interviews and securing location approvals, were complete for a week-long shoot overseas. It would be a working Spring Break unlike most others.

But that was March 2020.

The Latest in Research

One way a Pace education stands out from the pack? At Pace, research isn麻豆传媒檛 just for faculty and advanced graduates麻豆传媒攊t麻豆传媒檚 also for undergraduates. In fact, Pace has spent the past several years taking undergraduate research to the next level.

Isabelle Labianco '22 was able to rebound quickly when her summer internship plans fell through. Instead of a summer in an office cubicle, Isabelle was accepted to the Provost麻豆传媒檚 Student-Faculty Undergraduate Research program, and spent the next several months researching the intersection between behavioral economics and media messaging; particularly, how they combined in rather unique fashion during the early months of the pandemic.

When Christine Suddeth 麻豆传媒21 enrolled in the Pace School of Performing Arts as a musical theater student, she was in the midst of recovering from a voice injury麻豆传媒攐ne that her voice teacher, PPA Professor Amanda Flynn, helped her recover from. 麻豆传媒淒oing this research opened my mind a bit more麻豆传媒攁s a performing arts major, you can get tunnel vision,麻豆传媒 said Christine. 麻豆传媒淚t was liberating in a way that I could expand my breadth of study.麻豆传媒
