What is sexual assault?
Sexual assault is any type of sexual activity without the explicit consent of the recipient.
What should you do if you have been sexually assaulted?
- Understand that you are not at fault.
- Go to a safe place as fast as you can.
- Preserve evidence of the attack. Do not clean anything on you or at the scene of the assault.
- Call and ask someone you trust to be with you.
- Seek medical attention and go to your nearest hospital emergency room.
How can I help someone who has been sexually assaulted?
- Listen.
- Provide comfort.
- Normalize their feelings.
- Let them know they are not at fault.
- Encourage them to seek help.
- Accompany them to the hospital, police or counseling.
