Â鶹´«Ã½Â鶹´«Ã½™s bachelorÂ鶹´«Ã½™s in Early Childhood and Childhood Education equips you with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to support young learners (birthÂ鶹´«Ã½“grade 6) during their most formative years and crucial elementary school period. Through a combination of research-based instruction and practical fieldwork, youÂ鶹´«Ã½™ll learn to address the diverse needs of young children in the classroom, at home, in community settings, and through meaningful partnerships with families.

Beginning in your sophomore year youÂ鶹´«Ã½™ll engage in student teaching experiences, and during junior year youÂ鶹´«Ã½™ll gain immersive classroom experience working alongside experienced educators to develop the skills to meet the needs of early-childhood and childhood students. Through fieldwork, tutoring, and hands-on teaching, youÂ鶹´«Ã½™ll learn how to create engaging lesson plans, adapt instruction for different learning styles, and foster inclusive classroom environments.

As one of the only education programs in New York City and the lower Hudson Valley to offer mixed-reality classroom simulation technology, Pace provides cutting-edge training that sets you apart. Our strong school partnerships with New YorkÂ鶹´«Ã½™s diverse school districts ensure graduates are in high demand, with many securing teaching positions before graduation. Curriculum

Our Early Childhood/Childhood Dual program is nationally recognized and leads to a bachelor's degree and the Initial Teaching Certificate in both early childhood education (birthÂ鶹´«Ã½“second grade) and childhood education (grades 1Â鶹´«Ã½“6). Early Childhood Education/Childhood Education majors also complete a 30-credit concentration in biology, English, history, or mathematics on either campus, or Spanish on our New York City Campus.

Get Real Experience in the Classroom

Because experience is key, starting in your junior year, you will participate in our Center for Professional Development (CPD) model where you will practice your teaching skills through the completion of your undergraduate program. Receive hands-on experience in schools one day a week in your junior year and between two and five days during your senior year. 

YouÂ鶹´«Ã½™ll observe and tutor students, as well as provide small and eventually whole group instruction. Not only will you be able to apply what you are learning in the classroom, but also have the opportunity to explore different grade levels as you proceed through the program. As a CPD candidate, you have a unique opportunity to foster professional relationships with mentor teachers, students, and school staff, all in support of the diverse population of the students that you are serving.
