Knowledge Is Power Series Fall 2024


Know the issues you are voting on this November!

Proposition 1, formerly known as the New York Equal Rights Amendment, is a proposed constitutional amendment to New York State's Bill of Rights that will be on this year’s ballot. The Proposition includes anti-discrimination provisions for New Yorkers based on:


  • ethnicity
  • national origin
  • age
  • disability
  • sex (including sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes, and reproductive healthcare and autonomy)

Moderator:


  • Natanya Briendel, Supervising Attorney, Uncontested Divorce Program, Pace Women’s Justice Center

Panelists:


  • Shelley Mayer, New York State Senator
  • Allie Bohm, Senior Counsel, New York Civil Liberties Union
  • Debra Cohen, Adjunct Professor and Civil Rights Lawyer

Co-sponsored by the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York (WBASNY) and the Westchester Women's Bar Association (WWBA).
